Leopard driven GTD workflow? by

I found an interesting post at surfgarden about a GTD related posting at Dennis Best. He is talking about taming the GTD workflow with Leopards build-in tools like Mail.app and iCal instead of dedicated GTD applications like OmniFocus, Things, Midnight Inbox or iGTD.

A central point in his argumentation is the effort to setup and maintain the dedicated applications. He uses the new Data Detectors of Mail.app, the central ToDo lists, iCal, SmartFolders and saved searches for his GTD workflow instead.

But when I look to his setup efforts to customize Mail.app, the smartfolders, bending iCal to support contexts and simulating universal input by AppleScripts I can’t help myself to doubt that this is more easy than using OmniFocus for instance.

OmniFocus has all these features and even fetches certain things from my Mail.app inbox. I don’t had to setup much to get into it.

So what’d you think about this approach?

Bin durch Zufall auf diesen “älteren” Post gestossen.

Ich teile grundsätzlich die Meinung von Dennis Best. Mir ist es wichtig das ich zum Beispiel mein Handy/Organizer mit einbeziehen kann. Und da alle Tools eines gemeinsam haben, nämlich NICHT mit dem Telefon zu synchronisieren, verwende ich ebenfalls schlicht Mail.app, To Dos und iCal. Dank iSync muss ich mir da keine Gedanken machen. Und die Methode mir selbst Mails mit ToDo’s zu schreiben, ist mir zuwieder.

Mit einer Kombination aus SpanningSync (GoogleCalendar mit iCal synchronisieren) und GooSync (GoogleCalendar per SyncML mit dem Handy syncen) klappt das dann auch drahtlos und automatisch…
